Canadian Cat Association Show
The CCA brings its Cat show of shows to the Niagara Pet Expo. With four rings going simultaneously and judging starting early the anticipated 500+ cats throughout the weekend will be judged, presented, pointed and ribbon selected non stop in the following Classes:
Kitten Class
The Kitten Class is for pedigreed kittens, four months to one day under eight months of age.
Championship Class
The Championship Class is for pedigreed cats eight months of age and older. These cats are not neutered or spayed. Cats entered in the Championship class would compete in one of the following categories within each breed:
Open – Cats which have not completed the requirements for a Champion title (successfully competed in 4 qualifying rings). For judging purposes the cat would be considered a Champion.
Champion – Cats which have successfully competed in four qualifying rings and claimed the title.
Grand Champion – Champions which have achieved enough points by defeating 150 Champions, plus one final placement in the top five.
Premiership Class
The Premiership Class is for pedigreed cats eight months of age and older. These cats are neutered or spayed (often referred to as Alters). Cats entered in the Premiership class would compete in one of the following categories within each breed:
Open – Cats which have not completed the requirements for a Premier title (successfully competed in 4 qualifying rings). For judging purposes the cat would be considered a Premier.
Premier – Cats which have successfully competed in four qualifying rings and claimed the title.
Grand Premier – Premiers which have achieved enough points by defeating 75 Premiers, plus one final placement in the top five.
Household Pet Class
The Household Pet class is for non-pedigreed cats or pedigreed cats which possess faults that preclude them from being competitive in the other classes. Household Pets over the age of 6 months MUST be neutered or spayed, but many not be declawed. Cats/kittens entered in the Household Pets class would compete in one of the following categories:
HHP – Cats which have not completed the requirements for a Companion title (successfully competed in 4 qualifying rings). For judging purposes the cat would be considered a Companion.
Companion – Cats which have successfully competed in four qualifying rings and claimed the title.
Grand Companion – Companions which have achieved enough points by defeating 75 Companions, plus one final placement in the top five.
Final Choices
After all the cats in a class (Kitten, Championship, Premiership, Household Pet) have been judged and awarded ribbons within their own breed or group, the judge will present the Final Awards.
All Breed Finals
The judge will award a final position to the cats, kittens, and alters he feels are the best. The placements from Best through to 10th Best are awarded.
Specialty Finals
Although all the cats compete within their breed class in a Specialty Ring the same as in an All Breed Ring, when it comes to the final awards they only compete against cats with the same hair length designation (Longhair or Shorthair). The judge will award a final position to the cats, kittens, and alters they feel are the best in the Longhair division AND the Shorhair division. The placements from Best through to 10th Best are awarded.
Household Pet Judging and Finals
Household Pets are judged on health, condition, colour or markings, and temperament. The judge will award Best through to 10th Best.
